Weekly Book Review 2/26 – 3/4

Title: The Light Pirate

Author: Lily Brooks-Dalton

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Why I gave this rating: I was confused for a good majority of this book. It was dystopian but like dystopian meets weather? Felt like sci-fi but add in climate change and hurricanes. Was just kind of lost the entire time.

Title: Under Her Care

Author: Lucinda Berry

My Rating: ⭐

Why I gave this rating: It’s been awhile since I found a book I disliked as much as this one. I read it all and just got more upset the more I read. Wouldn’t recommend.

Title: People We Meet on Vacation

Author: Emily Henry

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Why I gave this rating: I love, love, loved book lovers. And I wanted to love this one just as much, but couldn’t get into it. I loved the couple and the chemistry way more in book lovers then with Poppy and Alex. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would.

Title: The Marlow Murder Club

Author: Robert Thorogood

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Why I gave this rating: A cute but unmemorable mystery. Was just kind of flipping through the pages.

Title: Ordinary Grace

Author: William Kent Krueger

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Why I gave this rating: I went in with such high hopes for this book. This Tender Land was one of my favorite books of last year. This fell flat for me. It lacked the emotion This Tender Land evoked upon me. Had too much of a religious theme that took away from other aspects of the book.

Title: In My Dreams I Hold a Knife

Author: Ashley Winstead

My Rating: ⭐⭐

Why I gave this rating: Kind of a DNF. Read first 50 pages and was just not vibing with it. Then read the last 50 pages and still wasn’t very impressed. Seemed pretty predictable from the 100 pages I read.

Title: Part of Your World

Author: Abby Jimenez

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Why I gave this rating: Not me almost sobbing while sitting in the Orlando airport. This book just pulls on all the heartstrings and has you grinning along with Alexis and Daniel, best friend Bri, and the most adorable dog, Hunter. There is definitely some spice so just be aware if you decided to read. A feel-good romance.

People who would like this book: Easy Romance Read. Sarcastic Best Friends.

Favorite Quote: “It’s amazing how someone can touch you, even if you only know them for a moment in time. How they can change you, alter you indelibly.”
