Washington D.C.

Got to visit two of my dearest friends in DC a few weekends ago, and man was it a different experience than when I went in eighth grade. DC is easily a city you could visit multiple times and still not see everything. They are constantly updating the museums as well as the rest of the city. It’s a fairly clean city and their public transportation is super user friendly. My only complaint about the city is the drivers and the traffic. I was walking around DC really considering moving there for a few minutes, and then I got in a car, and it took 40 minutes to get 5 miles. Tears were definitely shed. That being said, DC is now up there in my favorite places to visit and I would recommend it for everyone as there is something for all, both young and old.

There is so much to do in DC that it is physically impossible to see it all in one trip. You need to pick like your top 5 things or you will just be wiped out. On our museum mall day we decided to hit up Planet Word, Museum of Asian Art and Museum of American History. I would confirm what you are looking to visit before hand as I might’ve thought Planet Word was actually Planet World and about geography and my friend might’ve thought it was Planet World and about planets. Turns out it was all about words and language. Still interesting but the globe picture is misleading. Asian Art and American History were museums you could’ve spent an entire day in and still not see everything. Was living my Night at the Museum dream.

Every neighborhood in DC offers something little unique amongst the others. We walked through The Wharf, National Harbor, Georgetown and Alexandria and I loved all of them. There’s plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. If you do not want to drive (per my earlier warning) then the metro is going to be your best friend. Super clean and very safe. There are constantly farmers markets to stroll through and you get to help support local business. I would love to come back and visit the city when the cherry blossoms are blooming and experience it when it is not like 150% humidity. If you need a break from exploring the neighborhoods, then make your way over to the National Arboretum. I am not a planet or green thumb person and even I thought this place was cool and relaxing. There is a whole section dedicated to the art of Bonsai Plants, which might be my new favorite art medium. Trees but small! DC is always a great city and can’t wait to visit again soon and see what else there is to explore.
