Is this the return of restaurant reviews?? Who’s to say. However, every once in a while I come across a restaurant that is worth sharing with the masses cause it was just that good. Saigon Sisters is this restaurant. Located on Lake Street between Clinton and Jefferson it is the kind of restaurant that you can easily pass without knowing what lies inside. It’s very condensed inside with just a few tables but has an immediate feeling of warmth when you walk in. Run by a husband and wife, it pays homage to the wife’s home country of Vietnam and some of the nation’s classic dishes. Even if you are new to Vietnamese cuisine, there is something everyone can find on this menu.

I will think about this food for a long time. The amount of flavor in each bite was exquisite. I got one of their specials, the Short Rib Banh Mi, and if they put this item on their menu full-time, I would probably be ordering from this restaurant every day. Served with an incredible broth that you can dunk the sandwich in or just spoon copious amounts of it on, it adds the perfect spice. If you are looking for comfort you can’t go wrong with the Vietnamese Ramen. Packed with warmth and has a good kick to it. And for those vegetarian-friendly or just needing a change-up in proteins, the BBQ Eggplant was phenomenal. Didn’t have you missing meat at all. Now after all this, if you still find yourself craving something sweet, the Banana Brown Butter Cake is a must. Banana Foster meets Brown Butter Cake. Rich and Delicious.
Saigon Sisters, while little and hidden away, is a restaurant that has flavors that make it double in size. It’s a must-try for anyone who loves Vietnamese or just looking for a hidden gem here in Chicago. Already excited for my next visit back.
