Title: The Serpent King
Author: Jeff Zentner
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: Jeff Zentner is one of the most poetic writers I’ve read in probably my entire life. He has a way of creating these visuals with his words that just has you wanting to cry. Cry from happiness. Cry from sadness. The reason this isn’t a 5 star like In the Wild Light, is he includes text exchanges between the characters and it’s very YA. A little cringy YA. But check out his writing! You’ll be amazed by the places his words can take you.
People who would like this book: Elevated YA reads.
Favorite Quote: “I want you to be careful in this world. My heart is wrapped up in you.”

Title: Sign Here
Author: Claudia Lux
My Rating: ⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: It’s an interesting concept but in my opinion just kind of fell flat. Wasnt really sure what was going on for a good amount and just wished it read a little better.

Title: Foul Lady Fortune
Author: Chloe Gong
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: This book was deeply entertaining. Full of action, drama, romance, and history, it keeps the reader engaged the entire time. It was fascinating to read how much of the book came from true parts of history. Not necessarily the assassin, but the history between Shanghai and Japan. Definitely want to check out her other works.
People who would like this book: People looking to read a Historical Fiction set in Shanghai.
Favorite Quote: “You cannot save the world. You can try to save one thing if you must, but it is enough if that one thing is yourself.”

Title: Calling for a Blanket Dance
Author: Oscar Hokeah
My Rating: ⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: I hate saying this, but I was bored reading this. Tried to push through and read almost 100 pages, but couldn’t get myself to finish it.
