Title: It Ends with Us
Author: Colleen Hoover
My Rating: ⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: I know, I know, an incredibly unpopular opinion for this book. I just was not nearly impressed with it as many others are. This is my least favorite Hoover book that I have read so far. (Kind of a spoiler but also not really) I really struggle with books dealing with abuse and can’t seem to separate myself from those characters. Never goes well in my ratings if a book contains that. I’ll continue to check out different CoHo books and see if this was just one that wasn’t for me.
Favorite Quote: “All humans make mistakes. What determines a person’s character aren’t the mistakes we make. It’s how we take those mistakes and turn them into lessons than excuses”.

Title: Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race
Author: Margot Lee Shetterly
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: I went in with very high expectations as Hidden Figures is one of my favorite movies of all time. And if you haven’t watched it, you need to. No questions. Watch the movie. While I really enjoyed the book, it may be one of the few cases were I think the movie is better than the book. This book was a lot more factual and less story tale minded. It broke down the women’s lives through history and expanded beyond just their time at NASA. I’m glad I read it though and got a better understanding of who these amazing ladies were.
People who would like this book: People wanting to read about female empowerment especially in STEM. Books to Movies fans.
Favorite Quote: “Their path to advancement might look less like a straight line and more like some of the pressure distributions and orbits they plotted, but they were determined to take a seat at the table.”

Title: The Cartographers
Author: Peng Shepherd
My Rating: ⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: This book could’ve stopped at the halfway point and I would’ve given it 4 stars. I was loving the puzzle and the National Treasure vibe this was giving. And then it was ruined beyond compare. It became so far fetched that it was almost annoying while reading. Makes me so frustrated. It took this engaging puzzle mystery and made it like an upsetting murder meets Alice in Wonderland (not in a good way). That is all I have to say.

Title: Run Rose Run
Author: Dolly Parton & James Patterson
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: I’ve read a few of these mystery authors co writing books with celebrities, and I’ve never been super impressed. They’re all really just ok. I need to read books by the authors themselves and see if it’s just I don’t like their writing style or I just don’t like it when they work with celebrities. If you have a specific James Patterson book I should check out please let me know cause the man has so many to choose one.
