Title: Things We Never Got Over
Author: Lucy Score
My Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: Holy Cannoli! This is a spicy, spicy, SPICY book. Putting it in the grouping of Mom and Grandma do not read this book. In the end I really enjoyed this romance book and it was the perfect Grumpy-Sunshine book. This is a chunky book (500+ pages) but an incredibly fast read. I was addicted and couldn’t seem to put it down. The only thing I would like to say is why was the niece named Waylay and the dog Waylon. There are so many names in the world and the author decided to pick these two. WHY!!!
People who would like this book: Romance book fans.
Favorite Quote: “You get to decide how you show up in this world. No one else gets to dictate to you who you are”.

Title: The Violin Conspiracy
Author: Brendan Slocumb
My Rating:⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: This wasn’t really a surprise for not liking this book. Why should I care about a violin being stolen. That was the entire premise. I made it 30 pages before I put it away. I don’t really know why I picked this book up in the first place. Read the book plots people! Learn from my mistake.

Title: Olga Dies Dreaming
Author: Xochitl Gonzalez
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: This was a very small to medium paced book. It gave me Malibu Rising vibes a little only because of all the family drama and the style of writing. I didn’t love this book but didn’t hate it. Was a very medium book.
People who would like this book: Malibu Rising fans. Learning about Puerto Rican heritage.
Favorite Quote: “It’s dangerous at your young age to be surrounded by people who don’t value who you are. Who don’t understand you. A child can become lost”.

Title: Pesos: The Rise and Fall of a Border Family
Author: Pietro La Greca Jr.
My Rating:⭐⭐⭐(.5)
Why I gave this rating: This was an incredibly unique memoir. I don’t know how many family members of former cartel/Mexican money schemers end up speaking out about their life growing up. Pietro speaks out about growing up with his father in Tijuana, Mexico who lead one of the largest money laundering schemes in Mexico history. How they could be entertaining Hollywood royalty one weekend, and some of the highest ranking Drug Cartel members the following. A lifestyle that I think very few could imagine dealing with.
People who would like this book: People looking for a short memoir. A memoir not like many others.
Favorite Quote: “Most people would have a hard time taking that threat from father to son literally. But when it came to Pietro La Greca, you never knew exactly where you stood”.

Title: Our Missing Hearts
Author: Celeste Ng
My Rating:⭐(.5)
Why I gave this rating: There are many reasons why I did not like this book. The main one is that it was a YA dystopian novel and dystopian is probably the last genre I would ever choose to read. May even read Horror before I read dystopian. Just not my vibe and I don’t understand/like it. It’s an incredibly slow-paced book which doesn’t help when the characters are very one-dimensional and aren’t very exciting to read about. I felt bored while reading this and from what I’ve gathered, a lot of her books tend to be slower paced so probably won’t pick up another one by her. But the reason that made me not like this book the most was there were no chapters. Just 3 parts. WHY!! Just break it into chapters and it’s so much easier to read. I am a very fast reader, and this book felt like it took me forever to read.
