Title: November 9
Author: Colleen Hoover
My Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: (Mom and Grandma do not read. Lot’s of spice). Ok I cracked and finally had to read another Colleen Hoover. I’ve read Verity and Confess but finally got my hands on November 9. I say finally cause it feels almost impossible to get ahold of her books sometimes. And I do have to say, I get the hype. She does such a great job of creating the rom com movies that we so love, into entertaining words. Couldn’t help but laugh along at some of the writing. It will be interesting to see if her others all follow the same style of writing. Overall, I thought the book was cute and I liked the couple a lot. Plus really kind of liked the name Fallon for the girl.
Who would like this book: Romance readers. Rom Com lovers. Looking for a mindless, quick read.
Favorite Quote: “One of the things I always try to remind myself is that everyone has scars,” she says. “A lot of them even worse than mine. The only difference is that mine are visible and most people’s aren’t.”

Title: The Night She Disappeared
Author: Lisa Jewell
My Rating: ⭐(.5)
Why I gave this rating: Gonna be honest, I did not finish this book. Got 150 pages in and I was so bored. How can I be bored in a thriller! It’s suppose to be the most emotional rollercoaster of a book in my opinion. Your heart should race! I was skimming through the pages just waiting for something to intrigue me. I ended up reading the plot online afterwards, and even after reading that I still don’t think it would’ve been a book I really enjoyed. Save yourself the time, and don’t read this one.

Title: The Least of Us: True Tales of America and Hope in the Time of Fentanyl and Meth
Author: Sam Quinones
My Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: This was an incredibly fascinating non-fiction. I will say it is a bit slow paced so if you are just getting into non-fiction I don’t know if I would recommend as you may be like why is this book taking so long. Quinones is a very well written author and it’s clear that he did a ton of research for this book. He was able to connect to the people he interviewed and tell their story.
Who would like this book: Non-fiction fans. People who want to read about the drug epidemic.
Favorite Quote: “America has devolved from the aspirational, achievement-oriented ‘city on a hill’ we once were, into the addicted and depressed society that we’ve now become. Because we abdicated happiness for pleasure. Because pleasure got cheap. The supply of it was everywhere. Like street dope.”

Title: The Book of Cold Cases
Author: Simone St. James
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: So, I found out cause of this book that I don’t like paranormal thrillers. None of that ghost heebee jeebee stuff for me. This was very much not the thriller for me. I had such high hopes for it and it fell very flat. They could’ve done so much more with the ending and it just was very anticlimactic. The book literally told you who did the crime at like the half way point. Why would you do that? The only reason that this is a 3 star and not a 2 is that I liked the way the author wrote and would consider reading another of hers. Just maybe not a thriller.
Who would like this book: Paranormal fans. Fans of non gruesome thrillers.

Title: Going There
Author: Katie Couric
My Rating: ⭐⭐
Why I gave this rating: This book is boring and incredibly slow paced. I am a very fast reader and it felt like it took me forever to get to page 30 in this book. No memoirs should be 500+. You lose your audience too quickly. Find the key moments of your life and write around there. I don’t need 50+ years of ones career written down. I was kind of bummed out cause I had heard Couric dives into the gossip of the news world but because it was so slow paced, I got to page 100 and didn’t even care anymore. I love celebrity gossip so that was a loss.
People who would like this book: People who enjoy slow paced memoirs who like lots of detail in their books.
