Recently, I visited Pizzeria Portofino for a girls lunch, and it is the perfect place for brunch, celebrations or even a way to escape the Chicago summer heat and enjoy some incredible food along the river. The vibes take you to the Italian coast, sipping aperol spritz and surrounded by greenery. Their specialties are their wood fire oven pizzas but they have plenty of pastas, salads, and seafood dishes if pizza isn’t what you are in the mood for (but like why would you not order wood fire pizza?). Everything feels very fresh and the smells in this restaurant are incredible. Loved being able to watch outside and see all the different boats pass along the river.

I’ve already discussed my love for their pizzas but they were so good so it needs to be said twice. I’m not always a fan of ordering a margherita pizza at restaurants, as I often feel it is too basic, but there’s also the case that if a restaurant is unable to make a decent, if not excellent, margherita pizza, then it says something about their inability to make good pizza in my opinion. Now, if you like mushrooms then the due funghi is what you need to be ordering. Mushrooms galore with this pie. If I see an item on a menu that has shaved truffles or burrata on it, it will immediately be ordered. Their current special is the Klug Farm Peaches, and while we had them put the prosciutto on a separate plate for our vegetarian friends, it was the perfect summer dish to tie everything together. Now that I know this place exists, I will be definitely heading back there soon. My overall rating 10/10!
