Cubanitas in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

I’ve recently found my love and appreciation for Cuban cuisine, and I am always down to get it and try different dishes. I lived in Milwaukee for 4 years during college and had always heard about this place but never was able to make it there and try it myself. I was recently up in Milwaukee visiting two friends of mine and for dinner one night, one of them suggested this Cuban restaurant located right in downtown. Was super excited to finally check it out. Their mojitos are sooo good! Lots of flavors to choose from.

Recently, when I go out with friends and family to a new restaurant, I try to not order the same thing as someone even if it’s my first choice. I know I’ll be able to snag a bite of theirs and then know for future reference if that is something I want to eat next time I visit. We started with their plantain chips and homemade guac which I dare say rivals your typical guac and tortilla chips. Then my friends and I split their Rope Vieja (shredded flank steak in a tomato sauce with peppers and onions), carne con papas (braised beef with potatoes in red sauce) and their classic Cuban sandwich. Overall the food was very delicious. I don’t know if I would get the exact things again, would probably want to try new things next time. Definitely check out Cubanitas though if you ever find yourself in MKE! My overall rating is 8.5/10.
