Um What… I say for the 100th time while reading the last 50 pages of this book. This book was absolutely insane and I loved it! The only reason why I am not giving this book a full 5 out of 5 stars is because the two main characters are incredibly frustrating and at points almost ruined the book for me. If it wasn’t for the plot, especially the hidden thriller aspect of it, I might have turned it away rather early on. So if you decide to read this movie, please look past some of the main characters actions.
All Florence Darrow wants in life is to be recognized for her talents as an amazing writer. She knows she is talented, she’s just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up. But until they do, she is working at a publishing firm in New York City. When the opportunity arrises to become the assistant for “Maud Dixon”, a world famous author writing under this alias and nobody actually knowing who the real Maud Dixon is, she can’t pass it up. The world is finally going to get to see her skills. Working for Helen though has its ups and downs. Helen can be quite picky in the way she likes things done but Florence wouldn’t change it for anything else especially when Helen invites Florence to Morocco to do some research for her next novel. But when Florence wakes up in the hospital with no memory of what happened and the nurses and doctors calling her Helen Wilcox, she knows her story has just begun. She will be the new Maud Dixon.
I mean like come on! I read that description and was like yep that is what I want to read right now. I was feeling like I was in a little slump with my reading and was struggling this past month to find books that actually kept me engaged the entire time. I read very little in November with just not being inspired from what I was reading. This book totally changed it around for me. It took a little to get me hooked but once I was I couldn’t put it down. Plus the surprise plot twist near the end made this book 100% worth me reading it. If you are in the mood for a drama turned mystery thriller this is a perfect book to pick up.
